On 24 May, New Zealand Meat Board hosted an event in London to mark 100 years as a foundation stone of a successful export industry.

Representatives of major UK lamb customers marked the New Zealand Meat Board’s centenary on National Lamb Day at Butcher’s Hall, home of the Worshipful Company of Butchers in London.

The occasion coincided with the 140th anniversary of the arrival of the SS Dunedin bringing the first shipment of New Zealand lamb to the UK.

Guests were welcomed by a performance from Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club and enjoyed a New Zealand lamb barbecue.

Presentations were given by NZMB and B+LNZ’s Chairman Andrew Morrison and New Zealand High Commissioner to the UK Bede Corry.
