Annually, 213,402 tonnes (product weight) of New Zealand beef and veal can be exported to the United States – most at an in-quota tariff rate of US4.4c/kg.

Imports within the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) are referred to as “in-quota”. Product imported outside the quota is subject to an out-of-quota tariff rate of 26.4% ad valorem (based on the FOB value).

The Quota Year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Prior to the year’s start, the Board makes quota allocations to Qualifying Companies and New Entrants. This is done in accordance with the Quota Allowance Allocation System, which can be found on page 14 of the US Beef and Veal Tariff Rate Quota Manual.
