ANZCO Foods’ chief executive Peter Conley has been appointed a director of Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) and the New Zealand Meat Board (NZMB).

B+LNZ and NZMB Chair Andrew Morrison said he was pleased to welcome Mr Conley as a Processor-Exporter representative to the organisations.

“Peter has more than 30 years’ experience in the sector and his leadership skills and knowledge across a wide range of organisational and operational roles with ANZCO, including overseas, will be of great value to both the boards.”

Mr Conley said he welcomed the opportunity to serve New Zealand’s red meat sector in a governance role.

“B+LNZ provides critical representation for New Zealand’s sheep and beef farmers in a fast-changing global market and invests in programmes to grow the industry and provide sustainable returns now and into the future.

“The sheep and beef sector is facing an ongoing wave of regulatory reform. B+LNZ has been playing a pivotal role in raising awareness and understanding of the implications of these changes and fighting for farmers’ interests.

“The NZMB is responsible for capturing the best possible ongoing returns from quota markets. The sector is vital to New Zealand’s economy and I am looking forward to working with members of the respective boards as they continue and build upon their important work.”

Mr Conley joined ANZCO Foods in 1991. He is a graduate of the Victoria University of Wellington and the Advanced Executive Program of the Kellogg School of Management at the Northwestern University in Chicago. He has held various operational and sales roles across the organisation, including five years running the North American business operations.

In April 2017, he took over the leadership of ANZCO Foods as Chief Executive.

Mr Conley replaces former Alliance Group Chief Executive David Surveyor on the boards. Mr Surveyor has returned to live in Australia.
